Vascular Surgery Fellowship Program

The University of Toronto offers Clinical Fellowship positions to qualified candidates for 12 months of training in vascular surgery.  The program aims to provide additional specialized clinical and research experience to candidates who will ultimately be returning to an academic position on completion of their Fellowship. Trainees will gain exposure to a wide range of cases including experience in advanced aortic endovascular interventions, combined vascular and surgical oncology procedures, vascular trauma (both adult and pediatric), surgical management of thoracic outlet syndrome, as well as hybrid open and endovascular interventions. It is expected that Fellows will complete a research project during their 12 months tenure and submit a manuscript ready for publication on completion of their training.

Fellowship positions are based out of the Vascular Surgery Units at 3 major sites; University Health Network, Sunnybrook Health Sciences and St. Michael's Hospital.  Fellows will rotate between these 3 sites.

Candidates must be certified in vascular surgery by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada or equivalent. Candidates must be fluent in spoken and written English and have completed vascular surgery training in their country of origin in order to be considered eligible.  The Fellowship must be undertaken in compliance with the Department of Surgery guidelines on fellowship training and is conditional upon the requirement that the individual not interfere with the training of Vascular or General Surgery Program senior residents.   The Fellowship is unaccredited and does not lead to independent licensure for medical practice in Ontario.
